Announcing Nicholas!

After many photo shoots in search of a good smile, these represent our efforts to capture young Nicholas in an announcement type format. Please let us know what you think of them and which is your favorite!

Love love love them both! What a cutie. I like the one with colors better if I had to choose.

I like the color one. Cute kid. Congrats!

The color one on the bottom is Maren to "T". (The fonts, colors, etc) I think they are both adorable. Put one on the front and one on the back :)

Alright Joseph - I have some of the "constructive criticism" you asked for.
First, good things: the color palates are nice, they feel harmonious, and that was smart stealing the colors from Nicholas' shirt and tie. I agree with Jordan that the layout on the top one is good. Because Nicholas' has such a long name, it's a creative solution to put it on a diagonal. On the bottom one, I like how you push the dot theme by putting the little pictures in circles-ties it together nicely.

A couple Suggestions: On the top one, the color scheme and composition are pretty clean and modern, but the font on the name is kind of traditional-looking, which doesn't seem to match. Also, I don't know how necessary knocking out the type with shadows is-I think it would look just as nice in black (and be easier to read, too). Maybe experiment and see what works.
The bottom one feels scrapbooky, which is fine if that's what you're going for. The layout is similar to a chick-flick poster (see Love Happens or The Holiday) with horizontal bands of image and type. It's a comfortable, if not terribly innovative, solution, but I think it works for this application (and the pictures are cute).

So, there you go-now go conquer the graphic design world!
